Information Technology, Data Protection and Intellectual Property
Providing general legal advisory services on information technology law, cybersecurity, data protection, and intellectual property, including enforcement of data subject, data controller, and data processor rights, as well as litigation.
- Interpretation of both local and international information technology law regulations and guidelines, and advising on emerging regulatory trends, particularly in the European Union Economic Area and SADC.
- Monitoring and evaluating internal information technology protocols.
- Conducting internal regulatory and compliance checks.
- Conducting risk assessments and offering advisory services.
- Evaluating products and overseeing supplier and customer contracts.
- Negotiating, drafting, and managing supplier and customer agreements.
- Advising on cross-border data transfer arrangements and ensuring compliance.
- Conducting data privacy impact assessments.
- Drafting policies, protocols, and codes of conduct relating to cybersecurity and information technology.
- Conducting GDPR, CDPA, and CDP Regulations audits.
- Conducting product data privacy impact assessments.
- Conducting in-house continuous professional development training for Data Protection Officers in both private and government organisations.
- Monitoring compliance with the Cybersecurity and Data Protection Act and related regulations, including managing internal data protection activities, raising awareness on data protection, staff training, and conducting internal compliance audits.
- Responding to requests from the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Zimbabwe (POTRAZ) and data subjects in accordance with the CDPA and relevant Zimbabwean regulations.
- Training clients’ employees on their obligations to comply with the Act and liaising with the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (POTRAZ) regarding its functions in relation to our data controller clients.
- Serving as the point of contact for data subjects when our client is the data subject, regarding the processing of their data.
- Enforcing data subjects’ rights and, where necessary, pursuing litigation.
